Day 5-Trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador

Today we went to Guayaquil with Wendy and Neil. Josue, the person who picked us up at the airport drove us. First we stopped at an orchid farm and Wendy bought two orchids.

Then Wendy and Neil had to go to get  their passports renewed. While they were in there, we took pictures in front of McDonald’s. (That’s for you, Bonnie). We didn’t get to go there, but we will at a later trip.

Then we went to Kiwi, a store like Home Depot, to get a few things. We got a base for  our water bottle, beach chair, mint plant, soil and a container, distilled water for my sleep machine (CPAP) and most important a cart to carry our groceries from the mall. Then we went to lunch at a Chinese buffet. Leo always loves buffets. I had ceviche, Ecuadorian meat, an Ecuadorian soup and Shrimp. I didn’t eat the Chinese. Then we went to the Malecon in Guayaquil that overlooks the river.

Next we went to the meat store. I bought hot sausage, Colombian sausage, and Mexican Hamburgers.

Then we went to the Mega Maxi and I got a beach towel and Leo got sandals. Then we headed home. It’ about an hour ride. We were tired again. We had planned to go out to dinner, but we said we’d stay in.

I love this part of town with all the beautifully colored houses. Looks so tropical.

    • I like activity, but I gotta’ slow down. Today I want to finish unpacking and kind of organize ourselves. How did you like the McDonald’s. I think I rode by all 3 of the McDonald’s in Guayaquil. I even saw a Burger King, KFC, and a Dominoes Pizza. Where am I now? I saw some nice pics of Fred, Jenna, and the grandchild on facebook. Nice! Are you still lobbying or is this your off season? How often do you work at the church?

  1. You guys are certainly keeping busy !!! Guayaquil looks like a very modern city. Glad you were able to get things you needed, especially the cart to carry your groceries etc. from the Mall. Love the pictures 🙂 thanks for posting them.

    • Yes and yes. I finally got onto Facebook and saw your posts which I had been missing. I love the animal ones. What are you and Noel up to?

My Tues. resolution (too long to wait for New Years) is to slow down. This is definitely the “Honeymoon Phase” here, and like most honeymoons, enjoy the glow while it lasts, I guess.
