Still shopping

Yesterday we went to Portoviejo to continue shopping. We bought groceries that didn’t need to be refrigerated and Colon and Olayita took us to a place to buy curtain rods where they cut them to size.  After shopping, we went to eat in Crucita. We had the curtain rods sticking out of the pick up bed about 6 feet. When we were in Crucita, turning into a parking space, the rod almost wiped out two people standing on the side of the street. I’m serious, luckily they ducked just in time before it hit them in the face. I’m screaming, you’re going to hit someone and Leo is trying to shut me up and pretend it never happened.  He didn’t want me yelling at Colon. No one was concerned but me. I was surprised we didn’t wipe out some motorcycle drivers before that.

We are getting our new refrigerator on Monday and taking out the old one, but we can’t plug the new one in until Tuesday, so I am going to have Audrey, next door, take some of the refrigerated food (not much left) until we get back from our trip to Quito. Fernando the caretaker will meet the refrigerator guys.

We were supposed to go get pizza last night and we even walked down to the road to get the bus. It was 6:45 PM and we didn’t see a bus, so we decided that we were cutting it too close to get the 8:00 bus back and still have time to eat.

We have had a problem with a month’s supply of water being used in 2 weeks. The only thing we could think was there was a leak in the cistern. Fernando wrote the owner that there was no leak in the cistern, but he didn’t have it drained, so I was not sure how he knew that. I asked others what else it might be and they said a pipe may have sprung a leak. Leo and I walked the property and found a big black mold streak on the back porch wall. Then we went on the porch to see if there was any sign of water and we noticed a wet spot on the wall near where the tub is in one bathrooms. Leo called Fernando and told him what we had found and he said he knew it and told the owner. I emailed the owner and told her. Fernando came out today to fiddle with it. We had water delivered, but we have no water in the house.

Also, the clothes washing machine we bought was delivered today. Great no water. P.S. We did get water by the end of the day.

Today, Saturday, we had Jill and Sy and Audrey and Bill over for beers and snacks. Sy needed Leo to translate a document he had. We had an enjoyable afternoon. Jill and Sy had to time it so they could walk the beach route without the high tide impeding their walk. In some places at high tide, the beach disappears. After everyone left, Leo went to the next town to get something for our barbecue grill. I stayed home. Just now the dogs were barking and I saw someone with a backpack on our side of the fence and I was becoming alarmed, but I got my glasses and realized it was Leo back from his errand. He was taking pictures with his tablet.

Tomorrow night we are going to get a bus for Quito so Leo can watch volleyball games. We will be there for about 3-4 days. I will try not to look out the window at the Andes. Yikes!  I guess I am  glutton for punishment. It will be at 11:00PM so maybe I can sleep. What do you guess the odds of that are? Pray for me!
